The End Result Tutoring Centers ("The End Result", "we", "us") provides private tutoring and test preparation in person across the San Fernando Valley and online. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, our student, parent and tutor portals, and our emails and text messages, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Many of the students we work with are minors. We take that seriously, and this policy includes a section specifically about children's information.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us, information created as we provide tutoring, and a small amount of technical information needed to run the site securely.
- When you contact us or request a consultation: parent and student names, email address, phone number, the student's grade and school, subjects of interest, current grades, learning goals and challenges, scheduling preferences, how you heard about us, your message, and whether you'd like our newsletter.
- To provide tutoring: the student's name, contact details, address, date of birth, grade, school, subjects, any learning differences or needs you choose to share with us, session schedules, tutor notes and progress, and billing details. If your student uses our learning portal, we also keep their lessons, quiz results and worksheets.
- When you create a portal account: your name, email address, phone number, profile photo, time zone, notification preferences and two-step verification setting. Passwords are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form that we cannot read. If you sign in with Google or Discord, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from that service.
- When you pay: invoice and payment history. Card details are entered directly with our payment processor, Square, and held by Square. We do not store full card numbers.
- When you apply to tutor with us: your contact details, address, education, experience, subjects, availability and résumé, including applications we receive through Indeed, LinkedIn or ZipRecruiter. For tutors we hire, we also handle payroll information and, with your separate consent, a background check.
- Automatically: your IP address, browser type and basic server logs, used to keep the site secure and working. To stop automated abuse of our forms and sign-in, we count recent attempts using a scrambled version of the IP address, never the address itself.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry and recommend the right service.
- To match students with tutors, schedule sessions and keep everyone informed of changes.
- To run the student, parent and tutor portals, including progress notes, lessons and worksheets.
- To bill for sessions and take payment.
- To keep accounts secure, including sign-in codes and limits on repeated attempts.
- To review tutor applications and manage the tutors we hire.
- To improve our services and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Emails and text messages
We send appointment confirmations, changes, cancellations and reminders by email, and by text message to the phone number on file. You can turn email or text notifications off at any time in your portal profile settings, or reply STOP to any text message. Message and data rates may apply.
Some messages are always sent because you need them to use your account: sign-in codes, password and account set-up links, and similar security emails.
We send our newsletter only if you ask for it, and every newsletter email lets you unsubscribe.
Children's privacy
We provide tutoring to students of all ages, including children under 13. We collect information about children from their parents or guardians so that we can teach them, and we use it only for that purpose.
A student portal account for a child under 13 is created only with a parent's or guardian's consent. Parents and guardians can ask to review, correct or delete their child's information, or close the child's account, at any time by contacting us. We do not knowingly allow a child under 13 to sign up on their own; if we learn that has happened, we will delete the information.
How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as we are providing services to you, and afterward for as long as we need it for our records, including billing, tax and legal requirements. Applications from tutors we don't hire may be kept so that we can contact the applicant about future openings, unless they ask us to delete them. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).
How we protect information
The site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Passwords are hashed, credentials for connected services are encrypted, two-step verification is available on every account, and staff and tutors see only the records their role requires. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects it, as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can review and update much of your information in your portal profile. You can also ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you or your child.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Delete your information or close your account, unless we must keep it for legal or billing reasons.
- Stop sending you texts, notification emails or our newsletter.
California residents have these rights under California law, and we extend them to everyone. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we will never treat you differently for exercising your rights. To make a request, contact us using the details below; we may need to confirm your identity before acting on it.
